Hello and welcome to The Needle Lady! We are a full service yarn and needlework shop
located on the historic downtown mall in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Our shelves are brimming with incredible yarns from all over the world. We carry Anny Blatt,

Classic Elite, Colinette, Dale of Norway, Debbie Bliss, Elsbeth Lavold, Fiesta, Fonty,
Hanne Falkenberg, Heirloom, Jade Sapphire, Jane Slicer Smith, Jo Sharp, Karabella,
Knit One, Crochet Too, Malabrigo, Manos del Uruguay, Mission Falls, Mountain Colors, Muench,
Noro, Prism, Rowan, Tahki-Stacy Charles, Trendsetter, Vivian Hoxbro, and more. We also
carry a diverse inventory of bags, including Offhand Designs, Namaste, and Lantern Moon,
and lots of books, needles, patterns and supplies.
Our walls are covered with magnificent needlepoint canvases, many of them custom painted
in-house. The threads that we stock are Waverly Colors persian wool, Appleton wool, DMC wool,
perle cotton 3 and 5, and floss, Anchor floss, and Kanagawa and Madeira silks.
Our staff is knowledgeable, helpful and always a lot of fun. Come and visit us when you

Trunk Shows
We have a number of great trunk shows booked over the summer months. A trunk show is a collection of knitted or crocheted garments from a particular desiger, book, or yarn company. It's a great way to see and try on actual garments before you make them. Here is our schedule of upcoming trunk shows.
Norah Gaughan Trunk Show
Norah Gaughan is one of our favorite designers; her book Knitting Nature is a big favorite with our customers. She is the creative director for Berroco yarns, and a prolific designer. We are very excited to have a wonderful sampling of Norah's knitted and crocheted designs on exhibit in the shop. This trunk show will be at The Needle Lady from June 26 through July 7.
Son of Stitch and Bitch
Son of Stitch and Bitch is the latest book from Debbie Stoller (the author of Stitch and Bitch). This book contains 45 projects to knit or crochet for the men in your life. We will have garments from the book in the shop from July 17 through July 28.
Classic Elite double feature
We have a double trunk show (twice the number of garments) for Classic Elite which will be in the shop from August 6 through 31. Classic Elite is one of the oldest yarn companies in the United States and has long been a favorite with me. Pam Allen has taken over as the creative director for the company and you can really see her influence on this season's garments. Don't miss this one. KNITTING NIGHT!!!
JOIN US THE FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH FOR A "KNITTING NIGHT"! We will be open from 5-8pm on the first Thursday of the month for a social knitting night. The next date is Thursday, July 3. Hope to see you there!
